and the verdict is…..

IT’S A BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we are so thrilled beyond belief. the appointment was amazing. we were able to see so much of our little man. it is without a doubt a boy. teehee…. the ultrasound allowed us to see all of his internal organs, which are great and very healthy. we saw everything from his kidneys, all of his bones, all sorts of different angles on his little heart, we even saw his little mouth open and close (which was paul’s favorite part). apparently our little boy is pretty big, no surprise there. the nurse tech that we had asked if our due date was correct. originally paul and i were told that i was due around april 28th, but the nurse tech today was thinking about a week and a half earlier. so we’re not sure if the baby is just big for his age (which could very well be the case) or if my dates are slightly off (which could be the case too since we conceived 2 weeks after i came off the pill). we are attaching all of the pictures from the ultrasound we received today, which are really incredible. i hope they all come out ok. there are 3 sets of 3 shots, so i’ll try to upload them correctly so that you can distinguish everything in the photos. starting from the top, photo 1 is our little man’s footprint (my fave photo). photos 2 and 3 show his man-hood that our nurse tech labeled so nicely for us. the second set of 3 photos are all of his profile (photos 4,5,6). in the third set, photo 7 is our little guy’s full body shot. photo 8 is his face (you have to tilt your head to the right to see the way he is facing up). photo 9 is the close up of his mouth and nose (when we saw him open and close his mouth).
week 18
happy thanksgiving to everyone! we are in week 18 now and had a GREAT doctor’s visit yesterday. our wee-one is growing A LOT and has very long legs.
on the ultrasound, the baby was moving around quite a bit, switching positions, i’m assuming because it’s getting a little more crammed in there day by day. we got a great profile shot of the baby, also a shot of the baby giving us a thumbs up, and then a shot of the baby chillin out and resting her/his elbows on her/his knees. pretty cool. speaking of her/him…. we find out what the sex of the baby is on MONDAY and we can’t wait!!!! my quad screen results came back too and everything is great. the quad screen is a series of blood tests that are done to rule out any abnormalities or potential abnormalities. according to the doctor, we have a “very healthy, wildly growing baby.” yay for that!!! monday’s appointment is with the high-risk specialists that my clinic sends all first-time mother’s to. we will find out the sex and the specialist will take an in-depth look at the baby’s organs. i will be sure to post on monday evening to let everyone know.
paul and i head to atlanta this afternoon for thanksgiving with our families. my sweet dad had his second knee-replacement surgery on monday and is healing well, though in a lot of pain. please keep him in your prayers. i know he will want to be crawling around on the floor with his grandbaby, and now he’ll be able to!
until monday…. enjoy the holiday everyone!
operation baby room
hello again.
well “nana” and “pops” were in jax this weekend, helping us begin to assemble the baby’s room. they did EVERYTHING from painting what was a deep blue colored office, to pulling up yucky old carpet so we can have our hardwood floors back, to hanging winnie the pooh curtains! our first official baby item is displayed in the house. here are pictures to show you all the work that was done. we also got a surprise visit from uncle nate, which was wonderful too. here’s what will be the baby’s room/paul’s office…. enjoy!
the ugly bra
so i finally gave in today and bought my first maternity bra. WHY MUST THEY BE SO VERY UNATTRACTIVE?!?!? it’s not fair. you go from this cute body with these cute boobs to a changing body, which i’ve been cool with so far….. but the boobs are getting big…. ugly big, which i was warned about, but DANG! i talked it over with my good friend who is also pregnant and bless her, bought a maternity bra in a size E. she is my rock star. today as i’m getting dressed and putting on my bra that has done me no wrong, but is getting quite snug, i finally submit. i go to the store and ask the saleswoman where the maternity bras are…. (enter the feeling of shame and hopelessness)…. they’re ugly, all of them. one would think that one would create a cheerful looking, possibly colorful (god forbid) bra for those of us struggling to give up our cute, attractive bras. i would have LOVED to have walked in, asked for the maternity bra section, walked over and taken a peek at these bras that just say “hey, i’m cute, and i’ll make you feel better about your crazy-large boobs! buy me!” but noooooo, instead you have white or nude, thick straps, lame embroidery, and saleswomen looking at you with a shit-eating grin on their face. (excuse me, but yes, i’m irritated and hormonal at the moment). is the ugly bra comfortable? of course. do i feel better physically with my crazy-large boobs? totally. but would i throw the bra away in a minute simply due to how hideous it is? WITHOUT A DOUBT! i’m totally down with my changing body. i am in love with my bump, totally sporting my regular clothes and jeans (thanks to low-rise), and feeling really great in this second trimester…. however, my spirit has been slightly shaken today with the purchase of the ugly bra. with that being said dear friends, i leave you hoping that my little vent put a smile on your face or gave you a giggle.
