postheadericon family fun

jackson is enjoying his third and final week in atlanta with grammy, granda, and uncle b. we’ve been having lots of playtime, a little golfing, trying to hold his own bottle, singing in church, getting good snuggles, and upgrading him to wear 6 month pajamas! :) he is soooooo long that his 3 month feeties were incredibly outgrown, though jackson just turned 3 months old. ha!!!! he now sports some rockin’ 6 month pajamas and the legs are much longer for him and he’s a lot more comfortable. the magoo and i are soaking up time here in atlanta with our family, but we’re also really looking forward to get back to jacksonville and seeing paul. he is doing well out in fallon…. learning a lot, and he even was able to take a trip with billy and some other guys to tahoe for the weekend. paul is missing his little man a TON though and i know he can’t wait to hold him again. WE LOVE YOU PWHITE!!!

postheadericon sisterly love

grammy and gramma deeds experienced a new sisterly bond this weekend. both sisters are first-time grandmothers my mom with jackson, and my auntie deeds with baby luke (my cousin kim’s sweet baby boy). i imagine the two of them love having something new to share together as sisters. watching my mom and my aunt spend a weekend together is so fun! they are such great friends and sources of encouragement for each other.
THANKS FOR SPENDING A WEEKEND WITH US GRAMMA DEEDS!!!!

postheadericon GRAMMA DEEDS!!!!

gramma deeds (my mom’s sister, my auntie deeds) arrived today!!!! we have been so excited to get her here to meet jackson. i have been waiting with bated breath, partially because it’s another set of hands…. hahaha…. :) gramma deeds made her presence known to jackson upon first arriving by walking in the door and saying “HI MAGOO!!!” it was precious. jackson enjoyed lunch out today with mom, grammy, and gramma deeds. he did a great job and actually let all three of us eat our entire lunch before wanting to get out of his stroller. then tonight, after fussing through his feeding, he settled right in gramma deeds’ lap and POOPED like there was no tomorrow. :) it was as though jackson sat with her, got himself relaxed, and said “she’s a gramma too, i’m good with this spot…. and POOP!!!” we are so enjoying her and are looking forward to the rest of the weekend with jackson’s gramma deeds. :)

postheadericon battling the snots

hi there! jackson is continuing to play and enjoy himself here in atlanta, though he is now fighting a battle with the snots. his nose has been sooooo clogged since we got here almost two weeks ago. when i called jackson’s nurse, sweet miss mary, she said that “whenever any of my babies go to atlanta they come back with the snots…. somethin’ about atlanta…. the smog…. the pecans….. whateva it is, my babies come back with the snots.” (we LOVE miss mary!) the toughest part about it is that since jackson can’t breathe through his nose, he can’t latch on to his bottle and eat. so mom and i are now feeding jackson with a syringe so that he can swallow a little bit of formula at a time while being able to breathe through his mouth. (it takes FOREVER!!!!) a prescription for a decongestant is being called in for him and once that starts to dry him up a bit, i think we’ll be able to get him back on the bottle. the feedings are a battle for us (as they always seem to be…. when will my son actually enjoy eating?!?!) but “it’snot” keeping jackson from being the sweet, silly magoo that he is. :)

postheadericon playin playin playin!

jackson does nothing but PLAY at grammy and granda’s house! he loves to play and coo and giggle with his uncle b, especially when uncle b dances for him. :) we are having so much fun. tomorrow we will be celebrating the magoo’s 3 month birthday! i can’t believe this moose is 3 months old already. where has the time gone?
if you can’t tell from the pictures, jackson wants EVERYTHING in his mouth…. his hands, fingers, our hands and fingers, burp cloths, toys….. whatever it is, it’s goin in the mouth. his favorite thing to do right now occurs when he places something up to his lips. before putting it in his mouth, he’ll hold it to his lips and then stick out the teeniest bit of his tongue to taste. it cracks me up.
at the end of this week, we will be playing even more because my auntie deeds arrives to meet jackson for the first time. i am so excited to see her! it has been way too long. can’t wait can’t wait!!!! :)

postheadericon missin daddy

dear daddy,

i love you,
jackson

postheadericon week 1 in atlanta

hi blog readers! last weekend jackson was baptized here in atlanta, at my parent’s parish where paul and i were married. jackson’s billy and his rachel came in town for it and we had the whole weekend with them which just made things that much more enjoyable. while billy and rachel are technically jackson’s GODparents, my mom is jackson’s GODgrammy. she knows and loves billy and rachel (almost) as much as paul and i do, and she’s catholic which is a plus since jackson had to have one GODparent be a practicing catholic in order to be baptized in the catholic church.
we spent this past week with paul’s parents (nana and pops) at their house. they worked so hard to create a “home away from home” for us. jackson’s uncle nater came home for the baptism and slept in the basement because his bedroom had been taken over with baby gear for the magoo.
paul left atlanta today to have a day in jacksonville before he heads to fallon, nevada for 2 weeks. he and billy were selected for a training school/program with the navy, so they will have two weeks out there together. eventhough paul misses us already, i’m thankful to know that he will have a break from diaper changing and feedings for two solid weeks. school will be tough and being away from us already is tough, but he will be able to sleep through the night knowing that both jackson and i are with family and being well taken care of.
as for me and the magoo, we are now at my parent’s house (grammy and granda’s) for the next 2 weeks until paul returns. we already enjoyed taking jackson for his first “swimming lesson a couple of days ago. paul and i can tell already that jackson will be following in his parent’s footsteps and be quite a water baby.
