so what if he’s manorexic, weighs less than 25 lbs and needs his 18 mo pants rolled to keep them from falling to his ankles

clothing is overrated anyways and too expensive.

who needs clothes?

the weather is warming up. you’re goina sweat after playing outside with your kid(s) and then proceed to go pant-less once inside your home, just like your kid(s).

if you’re like me, you’ll break out the maxi-dresses (i hate that term as it makes me think of kotex) from 2 seasons ago and wear those simply to avoid a waistband.

but my son… he’s goina be 2 in a few weeks. he has to wear pants, shorts now.

nothing fits him.

he’s manorexic.

now before you go all hate mail crazy on me, let it be known that i had and still have friends who battle anorexia and bulimia and referring to my nearly 2 year old son as manorexic is said in jest. if you take offense to that, you obviously have no sense of humor and can close your browser now. thanks for stopping by.

once upon a time jackson’s inability to put on weight was a BIG problem, one that led us to hospitalizing him twice and feeding him via NG tube for 8 weeks.

and now… he eats fine. do i wish he ate more? sure. but i’m not about to have my husband shove another 8 fringe tube up his nose and down his throat in order to force feed him.

so he snacks. a lot.

i snack… a lot… which is probably why i avoid clothing with waist bands and stick with maxi-dresses (ugh! whoever coined that term needs to be covered in wet cement and tampons.)

my manorexic son is NEVER still. not even in his sleep.

he is always moving, always burning calories.

infact, at this very moment, he is trying to take his pjs off and put his sneakers on while chanting “owside. play?” repeatedly.

so… we’re goina go burn some calories.

even though he refused to eat any breakfast and has no calories to burn.

ok, i gotta go roll his 18 month old shorts so they don’t fall to his ankles.

or maybe i’ll just take him out there pant-less.

perhaps the world would be a happier place if we could all go sans pants.

My daughter is reallllly skinny. She’s almost 7 and she’s tall but because she has NO butt and a teeny tiny waste, finding clothes for her is very difficult. She’s always been like this. It’s a pain in the ass when it comes to finding clothes that fit that aren’t too short for her long frame. Hopefully she will fill out someday, and I’m sure Jackson will too :)

  • I’ve long had the same problem with my little guy. His sister is a sherman tank (not fat, just very sturdy and tall). The boy is tall and super skinny – he’s in the 90th percentile for height and the 50th for weight. Beanpole. Long pants are the worst – if they’re long enough to go past his ankles, they fall off of his waist. Shorts are worse. I can put 2t’s on him and sure, they won’t fall off, but he also then looks like a Richard Simmons wannabe.

Yep I’ve got a skinny mini on my hands as well. I swear by pants and shorts from Children’s place because they have adjustable waist band. I run into a big problem because Maya is tall, but super skinny, with the adjustable waist band I just can’t go wrong. I also have dresses to fall back on, unfortunately I don’t Jackson (or his daddy) would be too happy if you tried to put him in a dress :)

Joey used to be short and skinny (barely on the 5% on both charts). Now, I’m not too sure where he is because he hasn’t seen the pediatrician since he turned 2 (tons of other specialists though!). Anyway, when he sees the pediatrician for his 3rd birthday, we’ll know. I think he’s still very short, (18 month old kids are about his height!) but I think he’s a chubby boy. We’ll see come the end of this month!

Okay, just want you to know I can’t get Micah’s 18 month onesies over his fat belly… WTF how can they wear the same size??? I love this post and can’t wait to see my GodSon!

  • awww, sweet sweet lil’ jackson! way too awesome to stop for fud! (:

you know what nic? i was a skinny. ass. kid. like, had-to-kneel-in-the-front-row-for-class-photos-skinny & small. my mom worried about whether i was getting enough to eat ALL the time, and i was picked on pretty regularly for being so slight. but trust me – i was FINE! i just burned through everything i ate at warp speed! i know you already know this, but you’re clearly doing a great job with magoo. just keep on offering him snackums and rolling his pant legs up – he’ll be a swarthy, kickball-playin’ big-kid monstah before you know it! (:

    cheers, woman!
