sometimes i take pictures

instead of complaining about moving

we are packing and boxing and taping the boxes we pack. so, i’m going to leave you with what we’ve been up to these last few weeks we have had in the maryland/dc area.

super sap sappyness sappity sap

you guys, i am so in love with the dudes in my life.

have you had a day where there are things that NEED to be done? lists that pile up? phone calls that need to be made? emails that deserve your attention? appointments to schedule? laundry and dishes and housework and planning a move and car repairs and projects and and and…

…then something smacks you directly in the face, forcing you to stop dead in your tracks to tell you, NO. THIS IS MORE IMPORTANT.

that was my weekend. and it was sublime and wonderful and affirming and sweet. i was bathed in laughter, and i caught myself having moments of pure gratitude.

it’s good to be alive.

hilton head island

growing up with grandparents in florida, my brother and i spent a lot of time at the beach.

looking back on it now, i see that some of the most magical times at the beach are found in the evenings. staying up later than normal, eating ice cream until you’ve tasted every flavor, stumbling upon live-music during a night-time stroll, and sharing shellfish with good company.

now that my parents are the grandparents, i get to experience the beach in a new way while keeping the fond memories that warm my heart.

having an entire week in hilton head, sc, with my family (and paul joining us at the end of the week) was no exception. it was quite possibly one of the greatest weeks i have had in a VERY long time.

(apparently jackson hasn’t yet realized how wonderful our family is yet…)

beach house week via instagram

i have a ton of things to share with you. like A TON. but i’m really tired, and after yesterday’s 10 hr and 15 min drive from hilton head to annapolis, not to mention the piles of laundry that have taken over my house, and the grocery shopping that needs to take place, i’m going to leave it to my instagram shots to tell the story of last week’s family beach vacay of glorious splendor.
