BEARDS FOR BABIES!!!

if you have not already noticed the fantastically rumplestilskin-esque button/badge of my son’s crazy yet caring godfather over to the right, please scroll down a bit and take a peak.  then click on billy’s bearded face and you will be linked to his blog post which tells you how to do what billy and rachel do best…  give back.

billy and rachel, while fighting for their beautiful babies, micah and malorie, are also already committing themselves to giving back to the hospital (specifically the NICU) that is continuing to take such great care of their little ones.

with their giving hearts, billy and rachel are asking for donations in the names of their twins, micah and malorie klug. the donations are going to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) that has become the klug’s home, and will continue to be their home until the twins are healthy and well enough to be discharged, and truly go home.  until that time comes, the twins will continue to receive care in Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital’s NICU.

billy, being the creative goof-ball that he is, decided that in the meantime, the best way he could physically interact with micah (who is in isolation and can receive no skin-to-skin contact for who knows how long) would be to grow his beard in order to bond with his son.

this scratchy sensation has turned into the following mission: “micah’s daddy’s beard” and the classy “mal-stache;” please help us support Beards for Babies.

billy, being in the navy, had to get special permission in order to grow his facial hair for the remainder of the time that his children are in the NICU.  he plans to let it grow and let the love flow until their precious ones are discharged.  that being so, billy has friends and loved ones (like us) who want to participate as well…

and c’mon, i know you dad-bloggers are just looking for an excuse, a reason to let your facial hair grow…

so paul is growing a “mal-stache” (which is currently grossing me out, but i’ve never been so proud of him dedicating himself to such an awesome cause).  as for me, i joked about letting my arm-pit hair grow until the babies are released from the hospital, but decided instead to grow my luscious locks until the twins are released and then donate my hair to wigs for kids in micah and malorie’s name.

by clicking on billy, the bearded-wonder, you can go to his blog post and be directed on how to donate, or you can do the same here….

Ways to Give offers you options on the right hand side of their web page… should you opt to donate online, please select “donate now” on the right hand side bar and you will be directed to a form to fill out online.  please note in your online donation that you wish for your contribution to go specifically to the NICU.

for the not-so-tech-savvy but still strong for the cause, i offer you the following address where checks can be mailed…

Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital

841 Prudential Drive

Suite 1300

Jacksonville, FL 32207

should you choose to donate via mail, please include a note with your check that gives your personal information, including address so that WCH can acknowledge your tax deductible donation and return a thank you note to you.  please also make certain that it is noted either directly on the check or in the included note that you wish for your donation to be in honor of Malorie and Micah Klug.  it is the wish of billy and rachel that the donations are NICU-specific since they have been so instrumental in micah and malorie’s care.

i will continue to post updates on their precious babies on this site, and direct you to billy and rachel’s blog as well.  please join us in this crusade to fight smiles through the pain, and laughter through the tears while donating to helping other preemies… and growing an abundance of hair.

ps- fellow bloggers, please feel free to grab the code and support the honorable yet hairy cause on your own blog.
